- Pumpkinfest is going On-Line in light of COVID-19!
July 1, 2020 | 4 comments
The Pumpkinfest Board of Directors is proud to announce that Pumpkinfest 2020 is going ahead! It will take place on Oct 3rd, as originally planned, but it will have some special modifications.
It will not look like it has in the past! Working closely with the Grey-Bruce Health Unit and the Municipal and Provincial governments we will meet all guidelines and recommendations while we continue to offer this great festival experience in a new way.
This year’s event will be presented as a web-based streaming event that continues to feature our famous International Giant Vegetable Weigh-Off! Additional events will be added as the committees meet and start to format the new attractions and events.
“I’m proud of the Pumpkinfest Board members for being so proactive and thoughtful in their decision” states coordinator, Joanne Robbins “amidst a number of event cancellations they are moving forward with excitement and enthusiasm and are confident we can deliver a fantastic event while staying socially responsible.”

- Annual Summer Port Elgin Beach Market called off due to COVID-19.

Saugeen Shores, Ontario
The Port Elgin Beach Market Committee and the Port Elgin Pumpkinfest Team have made the challenging decision to cancel the seasonal Wednesday Beach Market for 2020.
The health and safety of our many vendors, volunteers, residents, and countless visitors is paramount to the committee. Taking these factors into consideration, it has become apparent that we are unable to continue this summer with the traditional beach market.
Beach Market chair, Connie Barker states, “I’m proud of the committee for taking this step. It was a hard decision, but weighing all facts and health concerns, it is just not socially responsible to move forward this year. I encourage everyone to support our two downtown BIA’s and shop local.”
The team will work along side the Municipality to monitor the ongoing situation and are open to evaluate other opportunities for the beach area should the situation change, and we can guarantee the health and safety of all.
On behalf of the committee we thank our volunteers, vendors residents and visitors for your dedication and support over the 40 years the market has been running. We are already looking forward to your return in 2021.

- A Message Regarding COVID-19

Port Elgin Pumpkinfest continues to closely monitor the rapidly evolving reports about the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. The health and safety of our staff, patrons, concessionaires, exhibitors, performers, partners and the community at large, are our top priorities.
Pumpkinfest is working directly in consultation with municipal and provincial governments, along with the advice of public health agencies in preparations for the 2020 event (October 3rd). In all aspects of our collective entertainment experience, safety comes first at.
Although our annual event is still five months away, we are deeply saddened by the direct and sudden impact of the virus on so many of our country’s great agricultural fairs, and our city’s vibrant festivals, events, attractions and businesses. We remain optimistic and have the utmost confidence in Ontarians, and the global effort to flatten the spread of this virus, that soon we will be able to come together again to enjoy all that our great province has to offer -- including the 34th Annual Port Elgin Pumpkinfest..Read More >>
